Veterinarians

Dr. Snyder graduated from The Ohio State University of veterinary medicine in ages past. He opened Cold Spring Animal Clinic in 1970 and has been practicing small animal medicine for 51 years! He has become a household name in the community and loves seeing familiar faces to connect with every day. Appreciation for the human-animal bond is something he continues to be passionate about. As well as shocking people that he's still going strong after all these years! He aims to retire sometime in the future; he's just not quite ready yet!

Dr. Martin graduated from the University of Missouri school of veterinary medicine in 2017 and has been practicing with small animals ever since. She took over Cold Spring Animal Clinic in 2021 from Dr. Snyder and has really enjoyed meeting and treating the fur babies of Newark. Soft tissue surgeries are one of her favorite types of cases to work on. She always tries to get a run, bike ride, or swim in before work as part of her endurance sport training. 

Dr. Deering graduated from The Ohio State University school of veterinary medicine in 1993 and has been practicing mixed animal medicine for 28 years. She is incredibly passionate about spay/neuter projects and works diligently at educating the public to help reduce animal suffering. She likes to practice with an emphasis on preventative medicine and thorough physical exams. Together with her family, she tends a 40-head, working cattle farm in her down time and loves training her two border collies Omaha and Vic. 

Dr. Tess van Kan graduated from the University of Missouri school of veterinary medicine in 2021. Prior to that she obtained a master's degree of infectious disease and global health from Tufts University. She is very passionate about public health and exploring the intersection of human and animal medicine. She has even researched tick and mosquito borne diseases for the CDC! In her spare time, she enjoys rock climbing, mountain biking, and hiking with her wife and two dogs.
